CYANOTYPES // PLASTIC ERA
The works revolve around the topic of plastic and its ubiquity. Plastic, especially microplastics and its effects on our health as well as on our habitat has been unavoidable for several years.
It is hard to imagine our everyday life without plastic products. Microplastics are now everywhere: on beaches, in oceans and sediments, in the air, in our bodies. Science assumes that microplastic particles are continuously getting smaller, but not completely degraded.
In the works, plastic products have become detached from their original functionality and purpose, lingering in the images, mingling or in some cases taking on other, unpredictable forms.
The cyanotypes with plastic products from my household as well as found flowers and leaves have been altered during and after exposure with various analoge methods to create different shapes and shades of blue. In some pieces I have added color with acrylics and / or markers.
